Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver DeVonta Smith is expected to miss two to three weeks with a sprained MCL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Smith suffered the injury during practice on Saturday when he lunged toward the ground to try to catch two low passes from quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Philadelphia selected the reigning Heisman Trophy winner out of Alabama with the 10th overall pick in April’s draft. The 22-year-old is expected to be the Eagles’ top receiver in 2021.
In his senior season with the Crimson Tide, Smith caught 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also had four carries for six yards and a score.
The Louisiana native is joined by Jalen Reagor, Travis Fulgham and Greg Ward at receiver.
