Hearn on Kambosos-Haney: There’s A lot of Work Going on Behind The Scenes

Eddie Hearn, who promotes WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney, believes a deal is still very much possible for a full division unification with WBA, WBC Franchise, IBF, WBO champion George Kambosos Jr.

Last year, Kambosos pulled off a tremendous upset when he outboxed Teofimo Lopez over twelve rounds to capture the unified crown.

Kambosos is aiming to return in the coming months, in his home country of Australia, and Haney has been named as one of the frontrunners for the fight.

At the moment, both Haney and former three division world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko are willing to come over to Australia for the fight.

Top Rank, who represent Lomachenko, are in talks with Kambosos’ team.

Hearn feels strongly, after reviewing the numbers, that a deal can be made recached for a Haney vs. Kambosos encounter.

“There’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes. It’s not even an offer but I think Kambosos wants to fight, Haney wants to fight. It’s the natural fight. It’s not close to being signed. There’s a deal that’s been discussed that could get this made. From our side, we’ve got a model we think works,” Hearn told The DAZN Boxing Show.

“There’s a lot of revenue that goes into this pot. George Kambosos’ deal will be worked out with Lou DiBella. We’re all working collectively to make this happen. Devin Haney, the kid’s smart, he’s made a lot of money. He understands the importance of this fight for his career. If you believe you win this fight, don’t price yourself out. You win this, you’re undisputed and done it on foreign soil, you become a superstar overnight.”
