Australian cricketer Travis Head and his pregnant partner Jess Davies have revealed the “terrifying” moment their plane was forced to make an emergency landing after returning from holiday in the Maldives.
Davies shared images of the harrowing experience to Instagram, describing how they were required to slide off the tarmac and land in an empty field.

“Our plane started descending 30 minutes into our one hour flight and we ended up landing on an island 45 minutes away from our destination,” she wrote.
“After our second landing attempt, we slid off the tarmac into a field.
“It was like watching a movie, the people panic and then some passengers got aggressive towards staff because they locked us in a room with no water or phone signal or any communication for 45 minutes which only scared people more.
“Eventually they moved us to a nicer room with seating TV and Wi-Fi. We waited four hours for a rescue plane and provided with accommodation.”
Davies confirmed that the couple were “totally fine”.
Earlier this year, Head and Davies revealed they were expecting their first child together in September.
Head was named Player of the 2021/22 Ashes series after scoring 357 runs in four Tests against England, smacking career-defining centuries in Brisbane and Hobart.
The South Australian missed the New Year’s Test in Sydney after testing positive to Covid-19, completing his seven-day quarantine with Davies in Melbourne.
Head has represented Australia in 26 Tests, 45 ODIs and 17 T20Is since making his international debut in 2016.
Last month, the left-hander was named in Australia’s Test and ODI squads for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
